What We Believe and Teach
Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone of our church and the Center of our faith. He is the Son of God and the Son of Man, who gave Himself to suffer and die upon this earth as the one and only all-sufficient atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Jesus has redeemed us from sin, death, and the devil through His death, and through His resurrection, He has sealed for us the assurance of eternal life in His heavenly kingdom.
In the Bible, God tells us that, due to the fall of Adam and Eve, humanity is trapped in sin. We have no ability whatsoever to rid ourselves of sin and its consequences.
But because of His mercy and love, God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human, to live and die for us. Through His holy life and innocent death, Christ accomplished what we never could: atonement for all our sins.
On the basis of His Son’s perfect work, God justifies us: He declares us forgiven of sin and righteous in His sight. God gives us this precious gift of grace by sending His Holy Spirit to create faith in our hearts through His Word and Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper). Now, when God sees you, He does not see your sin. For His Son’s sake, God sees you as His dear, forgiven child. This is the Gospel that our church proclaims.
